  4. 1     Read the articles. In small groups, discuss whether large pay rises are 
  5.     justified for senior executives such as Cedric Brown.

  7. 2     Use a copy of the appointments section of The Daily Telegraph. Select 20 
  8.     very different jobs. Produce a database including details of  pay, skills 
  9.     required, experience and location. Use your database, and your 
  10.     understanding of the articles, to suggest why some people are paid more 
  11.     than others.

  13. 3     Salaries are only one way of rewarding staff. Examine the advertisements 
  14.     and the articles to see how else firms may reward staff.
